There are many ways to say Happy St. Patrick's Day, but my very favorite is with this Gaelic blessing which is the signature song of my precious alma mater, St. Johns Country Day School. For decades, the choral groups at St. Johns have sung this at the end of all of the school's major assemblies, always inviting alumni in the audience who sang at the school up on to the stage to join in.
I have attached two videos here. One is of the composer of the song, John Rutter, conducting a performance of it. The other is John Rutter discussing the incredible value of choral singing in people's lives. We pride ourselves at St. Johns on the magnificence of our choral music programs. My own children were beneficiaries of the programs as were many of you who might be reading this blog. Hope you'll respond and share the joy!
