Being Made Straight

Luke 13. 10 - 17

There appeared a woman with a spirit that had crippled her for eighteen years.

I had a friend who suffered mightily from scoliosis. Her already petit frame was crippled to the point of distortion. The pain was excruciating and the difficulty of walking unbearable. But there was not a thing crippled about her Spirit. She was a beautiful angel of God, a contemplative, a pastor, and a beloved friend. Once when I was sitting with her in the sanctuary of her home space, she told me that the tree outside her window always reminded her of the task that lay before her each day. I looked out the window and there was a twistedly crooked tree that had found its way to the sun and had become straight at the top.

My friend lived her life dedicated to finding "her way to the sun."

This summer her earthly journey ended and I am convicted that she has found her way to the Lord, no longer crippled physically and will spend all of eternity guiding others who have been crippled to that end.
