The Quickening of the Holy Spirit

1 Thessalonians 1. 1 - 10

...he has chosen you because our message of the gospel came to you not in word only, but also in power and in the Holy Spirit and with full conviction.

Quickening is an indication that something is springing to life, becoming animated. Advent is a season of quickening. When a woman is with child, it is usually only when she settles down and pauses that she can feel the quickening of the child in her womb. Likewise, we must settle down and pause in this season of Advent in order to feel the quickening of the Holy Spirit as the Christ Child springs to life again for the first time on our journey.

Watch for the light and notice the quickening...and fear not!
