Christmas Love
I highly recommend pausing sometime today and listening to this song or even to the entire album. It is my very favorite because my children sang many of John Rutter's arrangements in their high school chorus (thanks to their wonderful teacher, Brenda Scott!)
As the wind howls outside and the road is covered with a snowy ice, I am reminded of how harsh the world is...maybe even a little harsher right now. Financial markets are reacting, questionable decisions are being made about the world conflicts, children are dying of starvation, neglect and abuse. Not all families will be "home" for Christmas!
On this longest night of the year, "the day when the womb of darkness has extended as large as possible*," I pray that each of us might manage to receive the Love that comes down at Christmas and project it with the Light of Christ in all those places where the darkness is blinding.
Happy listening, Happy Christmas!
Love came down at Christmas, Love all lovely, Love divine; Love was born at Christmas, Star and angels gave the sign.
Worship we the Godhead, Love incarnate, Love divine; Worship we our Jesus: But wherewith for sacred sign?
Love shall be our token, Love be yours and love be mine, Love to God and all men, Love for plea and gift and sign.
