A Mighty Man
A Mighty Man was laid to rest today. The celebration of his life was glorious, just as glorious and full of love as he was. His name was John, and everyone who knew him was left with a mark on his or her heart. That's just the way he was. His love knew no bounds; his joy was uncontainable. When it overflowed, he cried; he just couldn't help it.
The scriptures that were read at his service could not have been more perfect. But the one that towered over all the others was from Isaiah 61. 1-3
They will be called oaks of righteousness, the planting of the Lord, to display his glory.
John towered in the kingdom like an oak of righteousness. He touched lives, hearts and souls with his words and tears and deeds. He knew the way to Jesus, and he sowed seeds of love wherever he went, leaving love and goodness to grow behind him.
When the time came for him to go home, he recognized the face of Christ and let go. He knew the way home.
But oh how the kingdom this side of heaven will miss him...mightily. God bless you, mighty man, loving soul, dear and gracious John. I will never look at our great oaks again without thinking of you.
