Prayer for an Ordinary Wednesday

Dear God,

I found my shoe in church on Sunday,

Under a blanket that covered someone who was watching tv the night before.

You see we worship in the play room now

Watching our priests on a tv and lighting our own candles.

We are truly pilgrims on a journey in search of the Divine

And we are finding the Divine in more places than we ever could have imagined.

I encounter the Divine in the faces of my friends on zoom every morning as we sip coffee.

I encounter the Divine in the angelic faces of my grandchildren who pitter patter up the stairs before dawn to listen to Dean Kate's morning meditation with me,

and most of all I encounter the Divine in the beauty of her Creation which surrounds us.

I call the mountains my tranquilizer, and for that I give her abundant gratitude.
