A "spirit animal" is a guide or protector spirit, often taking the form of an animal, that offers guidance and support on a person's journey. The concept has deep roots in Indigenous cultures, where a spirit animal's appearance can symbolize shared traits, lineage, or offer "medicine" for personal growth.

Night before I left to fly to Minneapolis...

I  finally went out to my deck at midnight to just listen...

Autumnal sounds of crickets..how their cadence slows..  little by little

  No moon....

Just  God's exquisite silence  in the forest

...and I prayed  for safe travels and spirits that would bring me home to the woods that own me

   A Great Horned Owl called.

I waited... then called back .

We had a call and response under the " dayblind stars" for a while.

I stopped so he or she wouldn't think another not so fluent owl was infringing upon his or her territory..as I could hear the owl calls moving closer in through the pines as we  " talked"

I was so touched by this interchange.  I have taken  two great horns to  a rescue / rehab center   the past 3 years.  One made it and was able to be released  one didn't ...and went on to the owl firmament beyond. But spirits dont leave .  Their eyes are beyond anything imaginable

Last night on 1st street in front of my hotel/ apt building...

a  small beautiful feather with leaf litter (nesting material)

attached  blew with the wind down along the curbside... I " chased it"    and dodged traffic a bit. Finally I got it!!  Brought back to room. Google lens ID says Great Horned owl feather.

In the city!!

It matches up...especially with yellow shaft

  Such a gift

Might be another bird but very unusual for me to see one like this.

  Owl medicine  and  owl messages

Exactly what I needed last night.

A continuum..  from the last night in the woods ...

Spirits really do not leave... we have  guardians ..  angels all.
