Being Clay

Just like the clay in the potter’s hand, so are you in my hand, O house of Israel. Jeremiah 18. 1 - 6

The Pray as you go+ prayer app this morning reminded me of the power of the image of the potter and the clay. Supposedly one of the oldest images of how God loves and forms us, there is such great comfort in the hands of God wrapped around us with soft supple movements, gently molding us into what God wants us to be. That image combined with the spinning of the potter's wheel, such a perfect example of our spinning world and us resting in God's hands in the center of it all.

Mold me, Lord.

Shape me, Lord.

Fine tune me.

Still my soul; clean my heart.

Make me whole in your eyes.

Free me from what disables me.

That I may serve you and love you all the days of my life.

Amen.
