Holy Trust

Almighty God, you have given your only Son to be for us... an example of godly life...
Walking in the pouring rain with two large Golden Retrievers can be testy, especially with a cell phone and no pockets. But in my part of the world, the rain comes and goes quickly, and I was sure it would go as quickly as it had come. But not this morning. After 30 minutes of walking in it, I needed a break and popped into a friends porch, hoping it would pass. But when her dog started barking, I didn't want to bother her so I set back out for the rest of the walk home. It was cold wet rain, and there was lightning and thunder all around.
And then...a car pulled up next to me, and a young Latino man rolled down his window and said do you need a ride? I immediately said no, because I have these dogs, and he said get in. I have dogs too. And so I did.
There I was in the backseat of a car with a man I didn't know in a tumultuous downpour with zero visibility and all I could say was thank you. Then we chatted about where he worked and where I was going and he drove carefully and we talked peacefully and I got home safely. His name was Colby and he works for a company called Blue Mountain Construction, and I will call them from now on for any home repair needs!
This experience was for me an example of Holy Trust, because my instinct would have been to say, "No thank you, I will be fine." Once again, God put me in a position to trust the Other and "entertain angels unawares." But in this case, the Other was the one showing hospitality!!!
I doubt there has ever been a St. Colby, but there is one now! What an example of godly life he was.
