Do this in remembrance of me. 1 Corinthians 11. 23 - 26

If we lived every experience of thankfulness as a ‘Eucharistic’ moment, what difference would that make to us?

It is said that when Abraham Lincoln met Harriet Beecher Stowe, he said to her "So you are the little woman who started this great war." I felt a bit like that when I was around Sassy Shull... I thought so you are the little woman who started this great family. Mother of three, grandmother of 10 and great grandmother of 24, Sassy created a family I love and respect. Being with them is always a Eucharistic moment for me.

Sassy died last week, taking her last breath at sunrise, her favorite time of the day. She was a mighty woman and left deep roots; her death is like the felling of a great tree. Though her family grieves, they are filled with gratitude for her 97 years of strength and courage and love. And the roots of her life will permeate her family and her community for many years to come. It was an honor to know her and to be blessed by the fruit of friendship from her grand tree.

I believe Sassy will rest in peace and rise in the Light, and her family will also have many Eucharistic moments as they remember her for the rest of their lives. God Bless you, Sassy. Thank you for the abundant fruit of your great tree of life; it has made such a difference in my life.
