Turning on the Light
No one after lighting a lamp puts it in a cellar,* but on the lampstand so that those who enter may see the light. Luke 11.33
When our hearts and minds are in a funk, struggling to make our way, it occurred to me the other day that we might be struggling to "turn the light on." Somehow it seems hard to find the "switch" and to get the day going in the right direction. The gospel reading for today reminded me that there can be a variety of "cellars" and "bushels" that have hidden our lights.
Today I suggest keeping an eye out for the "cellars" and "bushels" that have covered your light...and look for the "switch" that will turn it on again. A three way light bulb would be even better! Varying levels of light including the brightest when it is especially hard to "see."
As the gospel concludes:
If then your whole body is full of light, with no part of it in darkness, it will be as full of l light as when a lamp gives you light with its rays.
As the Gospel of Matthew says,
...let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven.
Just keep an eye out for the right switch!
