"You need a GPS."

A friend and I got lost in an airport recently. Well, actually we weren't lost, but our husbands couldn't find us. There are always two sides to every story, but our side is that we went to Level 3, Row B where they said they would pick us up, and they weren't there. Fast forward and I received a text from husband of said friend yesterday saying that he was picking my friend up at the airport and needed advice about how to find her! (It will always be a fun joke between us.) But he also said, "Owene, you need a GPS."

As I reflected on that comment this morning, I realized that I have a GPS - the Baptismal Covenant! Our theme this season is The Five Questions of our Baptism, specifically those five questions at the end of the Covenant to which we respond "I will with God's Help."

Will you continue in the apostles' teaching and

fellowship, in the breaking of the bread, and in the

prayers?

I will, with God's help.

Will you persevere in resisting evil, and, whenever

you fall into sin, repent and return to the Lord?

I will, with God's help.

Will you proclaim by word and example the Good

News of God in Christ?

I will, with God's help.

Will you seek and serve Christ in all persons, loving

your neighbor as yourself?

I will, with God's help.

Will you strive for justice and peace among all

people, and respect the dignity of every human

being?

I will, with God's help.

I may not be able to find my way around the airport parking garage, but with these questions and God's help, I can struggle to navigate my way through life.

(And the moral to the story is remember where you parked and keep your GPS with you!)
