Treasures from the unearthing process

It seems that I am not the only person in the world purging and cleaning and reorganizing this year. However, here we are at the beginning of March, and my process still continues! I am certain one of the reasons it has taken me so long is that I am finding more and more treasures that cannot be pitched, and if they can be pitched, I must read, mark and inwardly digest them, then scan them and often send them to the person from whom they came!

Below is one of those treasures... from a friend handwritten and sent almost 20 years ago. I share it not as a religious statement, though for many of us it will be one. But mainly as a moral statement. The essence of Christ is Love, and regardless of your religious persuasion or tradition, Love always wins.

Who might you share this poem with today?

Who radiates Love, reminding you of that Peace that passes all understanding?

I hope you'll pass it on...

Not merely in the words you say,

Not only in your deeds confessed,

But in the most unconscious way

Is Christ expressed.

Is it a beatific smile?

A holy light upon your brow?

Oh no! I felt his presence When you laughed just now.

To me, ’twas not the truth you taught,

To you so clear, to me still dim,

But when you came you brought

A sense of him.

And from your eyes he beckons me

And from your heart his love is shed,

Till I lose sight of you and see

The Christ instead.
