Level Playing Field

"

The voice of one crying out in the wilderness:

'Prepare the way of the Lord, make his paths straight.

Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be made low,

and the crooked shall be made straight, and the rough ways made smooth;

and all flesh shall see the salvation of God.'" Luke 3. 1 - 6

Today as we light the second candle on the Advent Wreath, we remember John the Baptist, "the voice of one crying in the wilderness." Even in his mother's womb, he knew the divinity of Jesus, and perhaps he knew his calling would be to prepare the way of the Lord! Imagine when he heard those words from Isaiah for the first time! Imagine the great epiphany he must have had, the realization of God's sacred intent for his life!

But most of all today, imagine what the "way of the Lord" looks like as Isaiah and John prophecy it.

Filled in valleys, low mountains and hills, that which is crooked made straight and that which is rough made smooth...and "all flesh shall see the salvation of God!"

What does that world look like for you?

I see a level playing field with people loving each other in the name of God...and the presence of Peace that passes all understanding.

That is what I want for Christmas this year.
