Aslan is afoot...

When I am in the mountains as winter wanes, I am often reminded of the thawing of Narnia when Aslan is afoot in C. S. Lewis's great series The Chronicles of Narnia. As I was out walking this morning, I heard a little "drip, drip, drip" and looked over to see the icicles melting off of the rock. Spring is not around the corner up here, but the process of thawing has begun.

We might say that, like Aslan, Jesus is afoot during Lent, and all the fasting from or taking on of things that keep us from Jesus quickens the thawing of our hearts.

Maybe a good Lenten activity would be to listen and look for the places in our hearts where thawing is needed.

Then we can celebrate warm hearts at Easter!
