Words to Live By

Jesus said, “But I say to you that listen, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. If anyone strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also... Luke 6. 27-38

These words from the gospel appointed for today are so valuable. We live in a world where change and challenge can be toxic. And yet we know they are necessary for growth.

We don't like to be corrected, and we don't like to be ignored or denied.

But we are human beings; we have hearts and we have feelings.

Without these words from Jesus, I fear we might all be at each other's throats every time we turn around.

But with these words from Jesus, we can tap into that infinite abyss of the Love of God, be reminded of our own belovedness, and forgive and turn the other cheek.
