Into the comfort of Mother Earth...

Ride out and conquer in the cause of truth *

and for the sake of justice. Psalm 45

Justice is slowly being done on the plains of western South Dakota where the Rosebud Sioux buried the remains of nine children who were victims of the egregious Carlisle Indian Industrial School, one of numerous residential schools set up by white Europeans in the 19th and 20th centuries.

The article above details the events of the ceremonies.

I was particularly taken with the names of the children because in all the articles I have read recently, I have not seen names...

Please join me in prayer for each of these souls and their families who mourn for them 140 years ago. The words of Amos come to mind...

Let justice roll down like waters,

and righteousness like an ever-flowing stream.

The children's names are

Ernest Knocks Off White Thunder

Warren Painter Bear Paints Dirt

Maud Little Girl Swift Bear

Dora Her Pipe Brave Bull

Friend Hollow Horn Bear

Rose Long Face Little Hawk

Lucy Take The Tail Pretty Hawk

Alvan One That Kills Seven Horses

Dennis Strikes First Blue Tomahawk.

Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
