What would you say?
Simon Peter answered, ‘You are the Messiah,* the Son of the living God.’
Matthew 16. 13 - 20
Jesus and the disciples have just been challenged by the Sadducees and Pharisees to show signs from heaven that they know what they are doing. Jesus reminds them of the old adage about red sky at night sailor's delight and says you can read the skies but you can't interpret the signs of the times. and the S and P's walk away; they don't know what to say.
Jesus and the guys head on to Caesarea Philippi and Jesus says, "Who do people say that the Son of Man is?" And Peter nails it. In fact he responds so well, Jesus says he is going to be the rock on which the church will be built! Dear Peter. He fumbles and bumbles so often, but when he gets it right, he hits the bullseye.
What would you say if Jesus asked you who people say he is? I am going to work on a list of ways I would answer that question...and maybe ask the little children in my world. I encourage you to do the same. If we put our answers together, I suspect we too will hit the bullseye!
